Keep Your Friends Close and Your Enemies …

May 9, 2009 · 4 Comments

…… so close that your lips are almost kissing. A useful adage to bear in mind the next time we have Christian warriors waging a spiritual battle with a coalition of choice loving liberal activists. For the last two weeks we were soberly reminded that Islamic extremism is not the only ice-cream flavour available at the parlour. Thioliban spiritual leader Thio Su Mien Ph.D (Law) (London) (Gifted prophetic intercessionist) (Healer) (Feminist Mentor) (walking Tamiflu pill) brought respectability to the Christian Right wing Movement in Singapore. Her adventures with Josie and her pussycats are catalogued here.

20090509_163333_20090509-a1-selamat-b

Unfortunately, the main stay ice-cream flavour was restocked from Skudai Johor and a shipment of Mas Selamat Kastari will be making its way back to the fortress that is WRDC. Just like Hotel California, “you can check out anytime you like … but you can never leave”.

Malaysian PM Najib Tun Razak informed that MSK was originally planning to return to Singapore with perhaps a big BANG. Malaysian Home Minister and Inspector-General of Police confirmed that his capture was possible as he was planning something. Singapore claims to have provided the intel leads that led to his recapture and Malaysian Police Intelligence have added that his arrest would not have been possible without the cooperation of Singapore and Indonesian counterparts. So what do we do with him now?

Counter-ideologist expert Muhammad Haniff Hassan stressed that Mas Selamat “remains an ordinary human being who deserves a chance”, despite his track record. I would tent to disagree. Someone who is a career escape artist, Olympic standard swimmer and serial planner of attacks on Singapore, is in my books well beyond rehabilitation. Much like his estranged sister of mayhem – Thio Su Mien.

Will Thio and Co. be to Christianity  as Hambali and MSK was to Jemaah Islamiah? Probably not in the near future, but cross the butt-line too often, and you will find an ass cheek right in your face. But for now, the  will have to be content with page 73 as MSK takes pages 1-5.

Are you AWARE email is Evil?

April 24, 2009 · 16 Comments

Subject: Email is evil. Evil indeed.
To: Undisclosed recipients and all readers of this blog, oh and to Thio Su Mien
From: Me

Hope this would be a lesson to all. The next time you are intent on orchestrating a pinky-and-the-brain takeover of a local NGO, please be clever enough to hold secret meetings in your homes or in dark alleys behind your church building.

Mass email is a no no and praying for God’s guidance to steer the email to the chosen few is plain wishful thinking. Printing “PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL” on the top really doesn’t do anything as well.

I will reprint the emails in their entirety, or at least as I found them, for posterity sake. Afterall, if you cannot share private and confidential information, life would be too boring.

But first I shall highlight some choice quotes:

Thio Su Mien“Unfortunately, I cannot surface but shall be assisting in the background. I attach the Aware membership application form for your use.”

Surface you did like the proverbial serpent from the ocean depths. And as the sun caught your face, your true form was revealed – feminist mentor arise!

Thio Su Mien -“The Aware application form has a section as to who ( if any) told you about Aware. You can just leave it blank”

So how did you become aware of aware? Ermmm …. blank

“Lynn” (to her what I believe to be her cell group) – “be a change agent for the Lord in some of the recent issues happen in this organization that is not according to the Lord’s principles………..”

I’m not sure if the Lord taught his disciples to conduct a coup d’etat. Let me double check the good book.

“Shawn” of Church of our Saviour mass email out to God knows how (pun utterly intended) – “we are calling on all responsible females to sign up for membership with AWARE immediately, and also to attend this all-important EGM so as to vote against changing the Constitution….. You are made for such a time as this!”

Yes, god created Eve for just such a purpose. Ladies, do you feel all warm inside?

PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL

Dear All

Please see Attachments on some recent developments in Aware. Aware is a woman’s organization which conducts comprehensive sexual programmes for girls and it runs this programme in some of the schools. They encourage girls to express their full sexuality and this includes experimenting with other girls. It would be a good idea to join it and change its focus to other problems of women and families.

..Please ask your like-minded friends to join Aware so that you can give the vote to those who wish to be an agent of change for the Lord. They could also contribute to the activities of the oprganization as there is much to be done for women and families in this dowturn of the economy. Unfortunately, I cannot surface but shall be assisting in the background . I attach the Aware membership application form for your use. The Aware application form has a section as to who ( if any) told you about Aware. You can just leave it blank . Please let me know whether you can join and attend the AGM which will be towards the end of March 2009. The fee is $40/ and should be mailed to the Aware Office ( see application form).

Look forward to hearing from you. Please call me. May I have your phone no?

Acknowledged. We (Eugene and I) had quite a bit of talk on this issue over dinner today.

Right now we should pray for the COOS members who are being put through scrutiny and invasion of their private lives by the media. Pray that God’s Word will prevail over the values of the world. Homosexuality isn’t God’s design and we pray that those who stand up against it and are discriminated will be delivered.

Praise God for COOS’ stand and He who aids us as we stand firmly upon His Word.

Dear friends,

Thanks Tai Wei and Adora for taking an interest in the Aware Elections and how Church of Our Saviour has been embroiled in the controversy in the papers today. The media seems to have taken a strong stance against my church and this email is to update you all on the church’s position, which the senior pastor has kept mum about, but we would be expecting his comments in church tomorrow.

Below is an email sent out by a church staff to members of the church on the need for Christians to rise up and how they can be involved in this issue. Meanwhile, please pray for the church for it could be difficult time for members who are in the spotlight and the church could also be facing some brickbats along the way. Pray for God’s protection and wisdom to see us through.

DG, keeping you in the loop.

Subject: AWARE – Your Action Needed
To:

Dear Friend,

Our nation needs your support and action very urgently!

AWARE is an organization that has existed in Singapore for many years.

It is a non-profit body dedicated to women’s advocacy and gender equality.

They protect women’s rights and help develop women to their fullest potential.

In the last few years, AWARE has aggressively become involved in gay

activism. Many members of their committee are pro-gay. They have even

conducted a sexual education programme in some schools that teach

young people that it is normal and alright to behave homosexually. They

have also screened a lesbian-themed movie Spider Lilies at a Charity Ball.

During this week, AWARE held an election of office bearers. This event saw

many of the pro-gay old guards losing their positions in the committee to new

faces. These new people do not share the values of the pro-gay old guards

and has caused much shock and rage to the latter group.

The pro-gay old guards are retaliating by calling for an Extraordinary General

Meeting where they intend to amend the Constitution to only allow members

who have been with AWARE for more than 2 years, to vote. If this change is

passed, then only the pro-gay old guards and their cohorts will have the

power to do what they want.

To prevent this from happening, we are calling on all responsible females

to sign up for membership with AWARE immediately, and also to attend this

all-important EGM so as to vote against changing the Constitution.

If you are male and have received this petition, please pass it to as many

responsible females as you know and encourage them to sign up for

membership with AWARE so as to vote against any changes to their

Constitution.

The date for the EGM has yet to be announced but it should be soon.

Membership fees are $40 for adult females and $5 for female fulltime students below

the age of 25. Please print the attached softcopy of the membership form,

fill in the details (no need to tell who referred you), mail the form with your cheque.

Singapore is counting on you. Please respond.

You are made for such a time as this!

Pro-Family,

Shawn

The Self-Pwnage of ABS

February 3, 2009 · 1 Comment

black moon

As an inauspicious moon loomed over this Chinese New Year long weekend, the nation was shocked to its knees when titans of the local blogging community abandoned their flock in their time of crisis and need.

The most devastating resignations came from Events Director XtraLarge and the self-pwned Vice President (Membership), DK (the Diminutive Kok).

The association’s spokesman Wilfrid Wong, its secretary, said both he and its president, Ms Jayne Goh, were ‘determined’ to keep the organisation going. Naturally so, considering the cool backstage passes one can receive while in office. Members have their privileges afterall.

Bloggers unanimously are wishing Ms Goh all the best in her regrouping and recruitment exercise. We all can appreciate how difficult it is to attract the right kind of likeminded, niche, independent, blogging talent.

PS: The people behind ABS should just be honest and state the real reason for their existence: for commercial self interests. Then Im sure the vitriol will end. Give Wendy a call.

Not My Bloggers Association Singapore

January 23, 2009 · 6 Comments

After reading about the formation of official (unofficial), protem (pretend) Association of Bloggers (Singapore), I was not sure whether to laugh or cry. Needless to say, I was not part of the invitee list to this esteemed association of the best-of-the-best by invitation-only grouping.

An unfashionable blog such as mine would be a disgrace to the association that strives to “educate bloggers and improve the quality of blogs” and to “show everyone that the new media is also a reliable source of information”. I have no argument with that as my blog is neither reputable nor reliable. But surely the super sexy and noted fluff blogger Holly Jean deserves to be in? Of course not!! She may blog about the same crap as the association members but she is too gorgeous for this grouping of toads.

According to their decrepit and near-fossilized president (I should say OUR blog president), this formation will “engage the Government in discussions on its policies and help shape Singapore, making it a better place to live and work.”

Question: where was she when the fellowship of 13, led by a gay Gandalf, responded to the AIMS consultative paper? Where was she when the geeks of our fair land did the same?

Answer: she was busy promoting air shows and conducting photography contests.

Being an equal opportunist basher, I shall shift attention to the Vice President (Membership) of the association, Mr Darryl Kang or more widely known as DK.

“VP of Membership”, now that’s a lofty title. Such an office requires an impartial individual who is wiling to reach across the pond and embrace bloggers of all types. Aren’t you all glad to know that he has busied himself with searching for other like minded bloggers?

If the association is filled with like-minded individuals then there is really no need for his other lofty goal of “dispute resolution” as he put it in his blog. I also feel all warm and cosy inside knowing that the dispute mediator is a scorned former founder of ping.sg who was complaining about being left out of the “in-group”, didn’t receive ping award, stirred up a big fuss, left in a huff and puff and decided to form his own little own group. “Take that Ping.sg!” It’s all nicely catalogued here.

On a serious end note: its troubling that these days representative associations form like fly by night operations with little credibility nor accountability. These bloggers that claim to represent the whole are nothing more than sponsor- and ad- chasing fame-whores that seek to exploit the mass to amass some cash.

Sing-guilt and Two Less Transient Workers to Count

January 13, 2009 · 3 Comments

‘White Guilt’ is a term used to describe the collective guilt felt by white people for acts of slavery and racism (past and present) meted upon their black or minority brethren. As a result, ‘white guilt’ drives white folk into acts of charity and campaign championing out of guilt and pity. Paradoxically, their superficial acts of charity reinforce societal segregation (master-slave relationship) and redraw the line in the sand.

To draw an example, a socialite might attend a gala dinner in benefit of impoverished black youths but run for the hills when passed a group of black youths in an alley. To put it crudely, “I apologise for the suffering of your people, here is some money, but please don’t come to my neighbourhood”.

Our own Singaporean-styled ‘white-guilt’ (sing-guilt) is in itself a sight to behold. We pride ourselves for our multiculturalism. A shining example of racial and religious tolerance. We claim to care for the less affluent and champion for the rights of the transient workers on whose backs our city was built and continues to be built, cleaned and serviced.

But when it comes to crunch time, we adopt a ‘Singaporeans First Policy’ and ‘Not My BackYard’ mentality. Think the numerous anti-Foreign Talent whine-posts on TOC, populous political manifestos, and the uproar over the Serangoon Gardens worker dormitory.

Sing-guilt leads some to assert loudly and proudly that “Transient Workers Count Too”, but subsequent actions betray the underlying thought “but I wish there were less of them to count”.

My attention was drawn to yesterday’s news of two local activists arrested for staging a protest in support of two Myanmar nationals that have been effectively booted out of Singapore (through non-renewals of their visas) for their participation in protest activities.

The legality of the arrests and non-renewal of the workers’ visas is arbitrary and I suspect, of fleeting interest to the majority of the population. Yet it warranted an official reply from MHA and MOM. To put some perspective, the last group of persons to be arrested for their sing-guilt activities was 5 SDP members in Oct 2007. Their pro-democracy petition to the Myanmese embassy garnered 1,200 signatories. Now compare that to the 40,000 signatories in Singapore for a petition to end animal cruelty. Imagine that. We are 40 times more likely to campaign for animal rights than human rights.

As far as i am concerned (to do a spin on a classic phrase): The unemployment of two is a tragedy while the unemployment of thousands is a statistic. If that doesnt disturb you i dont know what will.

So before you wag your self-righteous finger at me, remember that in the end, the same people that cry injustice and pen down their names in remembrance with one hand, will sign away the rights of thousands of their countrymen with the other hand.

* Dedicated to the self-righteous colleague who was kind enough draw my attention to the article and my unsympathetic heart

Crazy Yap lets the Ravi out of the Bag

August 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

The press reports that a Raving Mad Ravi had disrupted prayers at the Jamae Chulia mosque. Police reports confirm this. What is intriguing is that another crazy, Can’t-stop-Yapping UncleYap had on hearing of his arrest, announced that Ravi was arrested for disrupting a religious ceremony at a Hindu Temple Sir Marianman.

Crazy people say the darndest things don’t they? I can hear the sound of a palm slapping the forehead of a betrayed Ravi. He exclaims: ” why oh why did you have to mention the Temple ?!!?”.

It seems Ravi is a serial congregation abuser. Looks like he will be returing to IMH soon … and he will want to bring his friend-in-need-is-a-friend-in-deed Yap.

Lawyer M Ravi arrested and charged with disturbing mosque prayers

By Satish Cheney, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 11 August 2008 2332 hrs

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/366973/1/.html

SINGAPORE : Singapore lawyer M Ravi was charged in court on Monday for disturbing a religious assembly.

The lawyer, who has represented the Singapore Democratic Party in previous civil cases, was allegedly disrupting evening prayers at the Jamae Chulia mosque on August 3 at about 7.30pm.

He is said to have been shouting and interrupting the religious proceeding and when approached by devotees, is alleged to have verbally abused them.

According to the police, this is not the first time the lawyer has behaved this way.

They said he is known to have behaved violently and abusively at places of worship, shops, the Subordinate Courts, and other public areas.

Bail has been set at S$8,000.

Police say behaviour that undermines racial and religious harmony will not be tolerated, especially when the provocative act takes place in a place of worship while prayers are being conducted. – CNA/ms

Malaysian Youth Party don like to Party

June 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Islamic party youths protest concert by Malaysia’s rock, pop singers
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The youth wing of Malaysia’s opposition Islamic party opposed a planned concert by two popular female singers, saying Tuesday their sexy attire and erotic dance moves tarnish the image of Islam.

Rock singer Norzila Aminuddin, better known as Ella, and pop singer Mas Idayu were due to perform July 6 at a concert in central Selangor state to kick off an annual football match. The event is organized by Selangor’s opposition-led government.

Ella is hailed as Malaysia’s “Queen of Rock” while Mas Idayu is known as the “Queen of Dangdut,” a genre of Indonesian popular music.

Youths from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, or PAS, submitted a protest note Monday to the Selangor government demanding the two singers be replaced with more acceptable artists, said youth leader Sallehin Mukhyi.

He said their performance was inappropriate as the event would be attended by many youngsters.

“Their dressing and performance don’t reflect the true Malay culture. Their image is unacceptable to Islam. We are not against the concert but we feel the two singers should be replaced,” he told The Associated Press.

PAS youths may stage a peaceful protest if the two singers are not banned from the concert, he warned.

Officials from the Selangor government, led by the People’s Justice Party, declined to comment when contacted.

The party belongs to opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim. It formed an alliance with the Islamic PAS and the leftist Democratic Action Party, which made spectacular gains against Malaysia’s ruling coalition in March general elections.

The alliance won control of five of the country’s 13 states, and increased the combined opposition strength in Parliament from 19 to 82 seats in the 222-member house.

PAS’ long-held ambition of creating an Islamic state is a source of conflict in the opposition alliance. During the polls, PAS set aside its Islamic goal but officials recently said they hope to introduce an Islamic way of life — that includes segregation of sexes in supermarkets — in the five opposition states.

Gopalan Nair out on Bail!

June 6, 2008 · Leave a Comment

An island wide search for Mas Selamat and decent lawyer for Gopalan Nair is still ongoing. While there is no intelligence to suggest that Mas Selamat has left the island, reports have confirmed that Gopalan Nair’s lawyer lacks the intelligence needed to represent a client.

When asked about the charges brought upon his client, Chia Ti Lik sat down puzzled as he himself was unsure if his client would be canned, hanged, deported or fined. Sources have spotted Gopalan’s lawyer eating curry chicken with rice and a milo while leaving his work undone. Persons close to him informed us that his inability to form a coherent thought these days was due to a splitting headache.

Ti Lik’s former lover has clarified that Ti Lik is currently seeing M Ravi’s psychiatric physician.

Meanwhile, Gopalan may be extradited to Guantanamo Bay to be tried together with KSM (Khalid Sheikh Mohammed).

National Education at its Sexiest: MDA bans two video-sharing porn sites

May 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This symbolic banning is so very lame…. and strange

MDA banned number 19 and 33. 19 is youporn.com and 33 is redtube.com. Isn’t strange that they didn’t ban number 24. adult friendfinder? Is it because of our diminishing birthrates thus they want us to screw around and make babies rather than wank in front of the PC at home? Same reasoning i guess can be applied to number 40. sammyboyforum.com (the sex forum). Must teach people where to get sex and not have them merely watch people do it.

National Education at its Sexiest!

Here are the sites (list taken from Alex.com today) not mentioned by the first world media

MDA bans two video-sharing porn sites

By Chua Hian Hou

SINGAPORE’S two most popular pornographic websites, both of which allow users to upload porn videos for others to watch, have been banned here.

Home Internet users visiting them since last Friday have been flashed a message that the sites have been blocked by the Media Development Authority (MDA), the content regulator.

The two sites rank 19th and 33rd in popularity among all websites visited here, said web-tracking service Alexa.

Much like popular video-sharing site YouTube, the sites allow users to watch videos posted by others and upload their own – in these cases, pornographic – videos to share with others.

MDA senior assistant director for media policy Jason Hoong said the agency decided to block the two sites when it realised how easily accessible by the young its hardcore porn videos were; the videos, which are free, start playing when the user clicks on the links.

MDA restricts access to 100 ‘mass-impact objectionable websites as a symbolic statement of our core societal values’, Mr Hoong said in an e-mail reply to The Straits Times.

To keep the list at 100, two other websites would have had to be taken off the list. Mr Hoong did not say which two sites were de-listed. The MDA has never revealed the sites on its list.

It is not clear how successful the ban can be: As it covers only home Internet access, users can still visit the two sites and the other 98 banned ones from their office computers.

But if they do this, it could well put their jobs on the line as most companies have strict Internet-usage policies that prohibit visiting porn sites at work.

News of the ban, predictably, riled some online users. Some ranted on popular forums like Sammyboy and HardwareZone.

One of them, going by the online nickname ‘thegame’, said on the Sammyboy forum that MDA was ‘just like a parent’ who ruled over his children ‘with an iron fist’. Others lamented the loss of access to the sites – then solicited suggestions for alternative sites.

Parents like Mr J.W. Chee, 38, a father to two boys aged 10 and seven, hailed the ban. But he added that a ‘better long-term solution’ lies in educating parents and raising their awareness to put them in a better position to advise their children on the use of the Internet.

If some online users are not too bothered by the ban, it could be that they are Net-savvy enough to know how to circumvent it, for example, by using a proxy to masquerade as a non-Singapore user and thus gain entry to the sites.

YouTube’s video-sharing concept has spawned a host of clones focusing on niche themes – from the religious (www.godtube.com) to more frivolous (www.shoetube.tv).

YouTube had previously been banned in Thailand and Turkey for hosting videos deemed insulting to the Thai King and the country’s founder respectively. It remains banned in Turkey.
